Jack Taylor

River City Iowa may have it’s Music Man but Findlay has Jack Taylor, Jazz director and artist extraordinaire. For 36 years Jack has been a Professor of Music and Director of bands at the Univ. of Findlay. He also conducts the Findlay Civic concert bands. His Findlay bands have performed through out the US and in numerous countries including Australia, Germany and Scotland. He writes and composes music and in 1996 the Flag City March became the official march of Findlay. Jack is a Jazz reed instrument and keyboard player and has appeared with Jazz greats such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Manhattan Transfer and others. On the pop side he has played with the Four Seasons, Martha Reeves, Glen Campbell and Olivia Newton John to name a few. His motto is “Life is too short so don’t sweat the small stuff.” His role models were his father who taught him his work ethic and his elementary school orchestra director for his love and passion for music.
