We have several public servants we are spotlighting this week. Matt Cooper of the Findlay Fire Dept. was just promoted to captain. he passed a rigorous board test and interview. He has also been busy during his ten years as a firefighter. Captain Cooper joined the Findlay Fire Department in 2005 after serving two years at Rock Hill S.C. Fire Department. Matthew has received certifications in Leadership I & II, Incident Safety Officer, First Due Officer, Arson Detection, Emergency Medical Technician, Firefighter Safety and Survival.
Matt serves as the President of the International Association of Firefighters, Local 381 and also serves on the City of Findlay’s Health Insurance Committee, Apparatus Planning Committee and was just recently appointed to the Tactical EMS Team.
He is married and has two beautiful daughters for whom he is a stay at home dad when not on duty. He and his wife like to run in their free time and just finished a 10K together. He is also his daughter’s soccer coach and rides a fire edition Harley. He follows the old adage, “That which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” He looks up to his father and father-in-law who both served as Captains in fire departments.
