We met Christina Treece at Blanchard Valley School where she showed us just one of the projects her group Friends of BVS is doing. She is shown here with their first edible school yard garden. It is flourishing and will be used in curriculum to teach the children. They will also eat what they grow. This was made possible by a donation by Lowe’s. Other fund raisers to provide equipment and programs to BVS includes raffle baskets and Bakery Bingo so the community can become involved. The goal of Friends (of which Christina is current president) is include ALL developmentally different kids access to fun, education and inclusion to the “world.” They are also in involved with BVS Fall Fest which is open to the public. Christina has 6 children, 2 with unique needs. She like photography, crochet, painting, collages and making eco-friendly hand-made soap. Her motto is “Kill them with Kindness.” And her parents provided strength, example and a hard work ethic to her.
