A “labor” of love is restoring the famed Jones Mansion, once considered the “literary and Cultural Center of Findlay” A trip back in time awaits the guest touring the old mansion as historian/restorer Eric Van Renterghem (r) tells the stories of the fabled building. A banker’s mansion, a boarding home and soon a museum and cultural event center all are roles this house has fulfilled. Eric is the drive behind the restoration since it was left to him by Caroline Roberts. He is a history teacher with Findlay School system and spends long days during the summer renovating and updating the water lines, electrical system , new windows, roof, wall paper and more. He is joined by Dave Youngpeter (l) in his efforts. Dave is a retired general contractor and a friend of Eric since grade school. They are posed by a bust of Elijah Jones, the original tenant of the mansion. Eric’s motto is “Never ever quit!”
